As above, so below. This was an early drawing. I was still learning the tools and was fascinated by the effects.

The Challenge

This is a story of an Irish lass who was challenged to a dancing duel by the queen of the fairies (for high stakes, of course). I think the spook in the background is supposed to be the impartial judge. The tale was told to me by David March, an extraordinary artist and graphics professional, who fiddles with the SCA on occasion. He sent a photo of the troupe of Irish Stepdancers performing the story at a Renaissance Festival. This is my interpretation of the tale.
