Gradient Backgrounds

Gradient backgrounds are some of the smallest and fastest loading backgrounds. The width is enough to fit your screen, but the height can be as small as a few pixels.

These are good backgrounds when you want a fast-loading page, and they look nice with a well executed page. They don't detract from text or graphics (as long as the colors compliment the text and image colors) and can be very easy on the eye.
